Department of anesthesiology and intensive care Russian Neurosurgical Institute after prof. A.L. Polenov.

Department of anesthesiology and intensive care is able to perform the most complex examination, intensive therapy and anesthesiological maintenance of the patients with the diseases of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord tumors, diseases of the brain and spinal cord vessels, insults (stroke), craniocerebral and spinal injuries).  The head of the department is prof. A.N.Kondratiev. The department includes four tree-bed wards and one single-bed ward.

The department of anesthesiology is provided with modern equipment that allows performing an appropriate treatment and life-support for patients of different ages, including intensive therapy of insults according to european standarts.

The specialists of our department worked out a practice guidelines for treatment of vegetative state patients that include three patent methods. Using these guidelines we are able to predict the probability of restoring patients to consciousness, reduce in-hospital treatment terms and recommend further medical maintenance.

         Stem-cells transplantation is a new program of our department. We care out introvenous infusion of autoplastic stem-cells in patients with  after-effects of central nervous system injuries, strokes, and vegetative patients.
